Holy Communion

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for of such is the kingdom of God.” 

  - Mark 10:14

“Those who eat my flesh, and drink my blood, have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day; for my flesh is true food and my blood is true blood.” 

  - John 6:54, 55

We are all God’s “little children” created to be the living tabernacle of the Lord. The Holy Eucharist from the Greek word eucharistia, meaning thanksgiving) always takes place during the Celebration of the Mass. During the Liturgy of the Eucharist, the act of Consecration of the bread and wine, and the act of receiving Communion, constitute this Most Blessed Sacrament. Holy Communion is a living sacrament that nurtures and gives graces to our soul so that we may enjoy eternal life with God. Thus, all who have received the Sacrament of First Eucharist, are encouraged to participate at Mass as frequently as possible; certainly every Sunday.
In rare instances whereby the Communicant may be allergic to the bread one may receive Holy Eucharist under the species of the Consecrated Wine.
